There She Is!! final step

"Fantastic"

Beautiful end to a fantastic story - thank you for making this series and sticking with it until the whole story was told. I really hope these two characters appear in another story soon.

Guns of the Awesome

"Problem"

date: November 25, 2008

I can't rate the movie - five attempts to load it, one stalled just before the progress bar was full, and four where it had loaded, but the 'loading' bar just went blank after it filled up entirely, and didn't turn into a play button.

Obviously you're doing something wrong, since the rest of the reviewers can see it without a problem. Maybe try and refresh and reopen.

May Cause Seizures

"Pretty Good."

submission: May Cause Seizures
date: August 28, 2006

First, my score:

16/15

I think it counted the one I found on the loading screen. XD

Well, this was a pretty fun little game - just the right length, considering how much damage it could do to your eyes if you played it for too much longer. X_X

Sound was good, and set the right kind of mood for the game.

Last, and probably most important - you gave plenty of warning about the potential for seizures. Seems like a fairly unimportant thing, especially to the brainless morons who post epilepsy-inducing spam 'because it's funny', but it goes a long way when you consider that any epileptic seizure could mean death for the sufferer. Big bonus points for letting us know what we were opening. :)

I'd really like to see another one of these, although I think I'll wear shades next time. XD

Elf Sim Date II

"At Last!"

submission: Elf Sim Date II
date: August 4, 2006

Ah, I've been waiting for another Sim Date game - and your games never fail to keep me occupied for hours. :D

First, the stuff that could be looked over for fixing and whatnot:

As mentioned in previous reviews, a couple of locations have buttons with two different texts on them - not a big deal, but something that's obviously not supposed to happen.

Next, there's a pretty serious bug in the breakout game - I played it until I'd cleared all the bricks five or six times, then intentionally lost my remaining lives so I could return to the game. The problem was, when I lost my final life, it reset me to halfway through the 'How To Play' section and I was forced to start the whole game over from scratch. That was only mildly annoying for me since I had at least found the password, but it could annoy others a fair bit more.

Thanks to the previous bug I hadn't actually dated any of the girls before my game got reset, but one of the reviews before this one said something about the girls giving out incorrect personal information - that should probably be corrected as well, if possible.

Some of the interface elements could be better-placed so that they're less intrusive on the playing area. Part of the dating window covers the face of whatever girl you're talking to, and the 'score a hot date' button could be made smaller and moved to either the top or bottom border, where it won't interfere with normal gameplay. A way to turn off the dating tips popups would be nice as well, but I can see how they'd be helpful to gameplay.

Now, the good stuff:

The graphics were great throughout; nice backgrounds, well-drawn characters, and a nicely styled interface all gave it a very professional finish indeed. Top marks. :)

The sound was nice, but got repetitive after a short while since it was a short sample continuously looped. Still, it was a nice tune. The other sound effects were suitable for the game, and there was just the right amount of them - audio clutter is never nice, so I appreciated that. :)

I really liked the fact that there was no time limit - as much as I love Sim Date type games, I can't stand time limits. Besides, they really don't make a lot of sense in this type of game; they serve no purpose but to cut the game short and force the player into using whatever strategy will get the girl in the least amount of time. Kudos for getting rid of that major annoyance. :D

Plenty of locations to visit - in these games, more locations are always a good thing. Nice work finding a good variety of activities for so many different places. :)

Six girls to go after - not too many, and not too few. Offers a good reason to replay the game, and variable goals are never a bad thing. ;)

Overall, I really enjoyed this game. The few bugs I encountered haven't negatively affected my scores at all (as I hope you can see), since they weren't intended additions that made the game bad - they were just glitches. Glitches happen in every single game created, from flash games to titles that take multiple millions of dollars and huge coding teams to produce. That said, I hope you can find time to fix at least a couple of the bigger bugs in this game. ;)

If there really isn't going to be another Elf Sim Date title, I sincerely hope you make a sim date with a different theme - you're really good at them. It would be a real shame if there was no more sim-type goodness from eviludy. :(

The 10 Second Collab

"Finally!"

date: July 14, 2006

At last, a collab possessing nothing that has come to be recognized as a staple in collaborative cartoons!

MARVEL at the lack of anything made by attention whores!

GASP as you watch segment after segment of well thought-out material!

REVEL in consistent high quality animation!

LISTEN with your speakers or headphones at a decent volume, due to the complete absence of screamers!

LAUGH because it's funny. Why else would you laugh?

Good job on this, guys - great stuff from all involved, and not a single immature moment to be seen. Awesome. :D

Author's Response:

haha, thanks for the review. very... interesting look on things. =P

Short, to the point, and still manages to get a good laugh - a pretty hard combination to manage, but you didn't fall short of the mark. :D

Looking forward to the next episode, and it's good to see you're feeling better. :)

{2006} style of time

"Cool gadget."

date: June 21, 2006

Not only is it a cool gadget, but it's also damned handy if you're any distance from your computer and want to know the time, since it's more than big enough to be seen even if you're not sat at your desk. :)

The little touches, (the toaster, the cursor, and the old folks) were nice additions - the cursor had me pretty much hypnotised for a couple of minutes. XD

As a clock, it's functional and nice to look at - the rest is bonus points as far as I'm concerned. Well done. :)

MarvelVsCapcom - JukeBox

"Nice. :)"

date: June 21, 2006

I liked it - nice, clear music that wasn't cluttered with background noise, unlike some of the rips I've heard of this stuff before.

A couple of suggestions though, which you might want to consider if you submit a sequel:

First, unless it has some voices and such, you should probably call it a jukebox - I know it's the same layout as a soundboard, but it would be easier for people to know whether or not to load it if it was called a jukebox or something.

Second, you could probably squeeze some more tracks in there before you hit the size limit. Not too many, but even one or two would fill it out a lot more.

The only other thing I could suggest is a couple of different backgrounds to choose from - I actually really liked the simpler approach you took with the presentation, but some people like more bells and whistles even when they're entirely unnecessary.

Anyway, it got my protection point because what was there was very well-executed; I hope you come up with an expanded version of this, because you apparently know what you're doing and I think you would make a good job of it. :)

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review.
I will change my movie title to jukebox right now =)
once again thanx

The Adventures of Steve 1

"Great Stuff."

date: June 18, 2006

That was excellent - great humour, a good plot with some measure of randomness thrown in, and nice timing on the gags. There are a couple of things that you may want to address in future episodes, but they were purely cosmetic as far as I'm concerned.

1. As has already been mentioned, the proportions of some charcters seemed to shift a bit from one scene to the next - most notably the size of Steve's head when he starts bustin' zombies up; it shrinks. Probably a result of drawing him in Ryu's style, since he also has a disproportionately small head. It's nothing you need to really worry about though, since the humour of the situation certainly wasn't lost because of it. XD

2. The length. In my opinion, anything this good needs to last longer. That's an entirely selfish comment though, and I'm sure I wouldn't have made it if I had any idea how much work goes into one cartoon. I'm just glad it wasn't over in thirty seconds. ;)

3. The sound. The voices were perfectly clear and understandable, but there could be more to differentiate one character's voice from another. I noticed you did actually give each character their own voice, but they still came out kinda similar. Unless you can get some other people in to help you on voices, maybe you could track down some software to change your voice, then save each setting with that character's name. Given the right program, you could easily eliminate the (small and purely cosmetic) issue of similar-sounding voices.

Incidentally, Bonus Stage was my favourite flash toon until it ended - in my opinion, you couldn't have chosen a better influence for your work.

Overall, this is something that I hope will not only become a series, but one that continues for a long time. Very well done. :D

Author's Response:

Thanks a lot, this is exactly the kind of review I was hoping for when I submitted the animation - you've pretty much assured me the general humour/style of the cartoon is solid, but have given me some valuable pointers for the next episode. I'm currently working on the second one, and I'm gonna try and incorporate some of the advice I've got so far - the jaw will move with the speech, the faces will be more detailed (shadows and such), proportions will be kept better, I'll do a bit more work on the voices etc.

Keep in mind, however, I do sort of intend this to be a series (like Bonus Stage) and as such I'm aiming to make a new episode every 2-4 weeks, so I won't be aiming to make every episode absolutely perfect in terms of animation. It'll be more of a process that will develop throughout the series, but don't worry, I'll do as much as I can for each episode.

Thanks again!
